A great rowing machine to have in the house

I decided to get this foldable wooden water rowing machine after giving up my gym membership earlier this summer. Rowing was always my favourite exercise, and I wanted something that wouldn’t dominate the room but still gave me that same smooth, satisfying workout.

The assembly was quick and straightforward which is good because I’m not a DIY pro. Its sleek design blends perfectly with our home furnishings. The wheels make it easy to move, and the adjustable water resistance feels incredibly realistic and I’d say the highest resistance really gets the muscles burning.

Folding it up is as simple as standing it upright, which keeps it out of the way. The LCD tracks pace, strokes, and calories, and despite the occasional Bluetooth hiccup, it connects fine. It’s sturdy, smooth, and compact, with a handy tablet holder. Your backside might get a bit sore after a really long session so it’s worth investing in a cushion seat which are readily available on amazon.

Sturdy water rower delivers

Slotting this wooden water rower into my spare bedroom lifted the whole look at once. The timber frame feels rock-solid, and at 6 ft and just shy of 90 kg I can haul on the handle at full tilt with not a creak in earshot. Water resistance has that pleasing whoosh, building in line with each stroke, so there is no need to fiddle with any levers.

Putting it together was straightforward. I made a coffee, took my time, and still had the last bolt tightened inside half an hour. When I finish a session the machine tips upright and stays there, which is handy when the grandchildren have scattered bikes and scooters across the floor.

The seat glides cleanly along the rail and, crucially, the cushion is still comfortable after thirty-odd minutes. I would like the foot straps to be a shade longer though, because my size elevens are close to the limit. The small display shows strokes, time, distance and calories, all perfectly readable until the first bead of sweat lands, then the numbers blur a touch. Bluetooth does hook up with Kinomap in the end, but the link is flaky if the phone wanders out of sight.

Overall the build feels as if it will last for years, the noise is gentle enough not to annoy the neighbours, and the ability to store it upright is a blessing in a busy spare bedroom when the grandkids stay over. If you want dependable, low-impact cardio kit that does not commandeer the whole floor, this rower is worth the money.

Solid rowing machine

As a pilot, I spend long hours sitting, so I wanted something low impact for my garage gym. This foldable wooden water rower not only looks great but feels rock solid, even when I’m rowing hard. The water resistance has a smooth, natural feel without needing adjustments.

The assembly was surprisingly easy for someone not great at DIY, thanks to clear instructions. I love that it stores upright securely, saving precious space around the kids bikes and scooters. The seat stays comfortable for longer sessions.

The display works perfectly fine and easy to read at a glance when I'm going full pelt. On the whole, it’s sturdy, quiet, and worth the investment.

Compact rower, solid workout

Parking this fold-up wooden water rower in the corner of the dining room has turned my after-work exercise into something I actually look forward to. The frame, made from ash approved by the Forest Stewardship Council, is both sturdy and rather easy on the eye. My husband, who stands a shade over six feet, slides along the 120-centimetre rail without knocking his knees, while the 33-centimetre seat keeps my decidedly shorter legs happy.

Inside the sealed tank six distinct water levels churn away, and level five delivers a surprisingly fiery burn. The swoosh of the paddle is almost hypnotic, especially late in the evening when the house has gone quiet and the only other sound is the dog dreaming under the table.

Putting the rower together was refreshingly painless. The children held the frame steady while I tightened the bolts, most of which were already snug from the factory, so the whole job took roughly ten minutes. Folding it up afterwards is simply a matter of tipping it on its end, where it occupies a footprint of about 54 by 45 by 91 centimetres, leaving plenty of space for the Labrador to continue his relentless pursuit of tennis balls.

The little LCD screen covers pace, strokes and calories, although it does drift off whenever I fire up Kinomap on my phone. A brief bout of Bluetooth sulking aside, everything links up fine.

Solid build, lifelike resistance and a footprint small enough for a modest flat, all at a price that didn’t raise my husband’s eyebrows, make this machine an excellent addition to a home gym.

Sturdy home rowing option

After a twelve-hour shift the last thing I fancy is battling traffic to the gym, so the wooden water rower now lives in the spare room and earns its keep every evening. The frame is made from FSC-certified ash, which looks surprisingly classy against the magnolia walls and feels rock-solid when I climb aboard. At 5 ft 1 in I sit comfortably on the 13-inch seat and glide along the 47-inch rail, while my much taller husband can row without his knees grazing his chin, a small miracle in itself.

There are six water levels, each with that pleasing whoosh that almost masks the soundtrack of Peppa Pig drifting in from the living room. The little LCD display counts strokes, distance and calories, then chats to Kinomap through Bluetooth so I can pretend I am on some glorious lake rather than next to the ironing pile.

Assembly is painless; most parts arrive put together and ten minutes with the supplied Allen key has you pulling your first stroke. When I have finished, the rail flips up through 180 degrees, and the built-in wheels let me trundle it across the laminate without leaving so much as a scuff. My only gripes are a rather dim display in bright sunlight and foot straps that ride a tad high on my size-three trainers, but neither spoils the session. Sturdy build, smooth action and a genuinely space-saving design make it cracking value for anyone wanting a decent workout at home.
